Once again, a beautiful and very moving essay Kim. Thanks so much for writing this

Helen A. Dixon

This is such a poignant essay you've written, Kim, and I loved everything about it! It's something I could have composed myself (if only I had your 'way with words') primarily because I feel the same things that you speak so eloquently about here! I suppose most of us ladies hold a place in our hearts for Glenn Gould, whom we [also] love, "as a mystery, as a genius and as an inspired musician." We daydream of what it might have been like to have known him. And, you and Schumann are right, Kim; perhaps Glenn Gould's name should only be whispered at night "to the trees and the stars," (and I add, "through our tears").

BTW, on this day, which would have been GG's 78th birthday, my new CD that I had recently ordered was delivered. It's of my all-time favorite; *Beethoven Emperor Concerto No. 5 in E-Flat Major* of GG playing along with Leopold Stokowski and the American Symphony Orchestra. It's so beautiful that I have been playing it 'in the background' all day long today, as my homagé to GG! Later, I read your essay, with sort of a Déjà vu-ish feeling all the way through; and then I see that out of all of the 'GG videos' you could have selected to attach along with your essay, you posted the *Beethoven Emperor Concerto* video and spoke of it as being one of your favorites too! Needless to say, I have felt a 'kinship' with you in quite a few ways on this [what would have been] our GG's birthday! (I'm sorry this turned out to be so long, but I had so much to say, I suppose). ;-)

My German nephew gave me a tape of GG's recordings of the Goldberg Variations, 1955 & 1982. Haven't listened to them in a while, I sink into self-questioning paralysis for days. gearing up to check what he pulls Beethoven's Emperor through. Thank you kindly, Ms.M-- IMHO, this is some of your best, most heartfelt writing. See you in LA for Thanksgiving.
