kim - your blog is amazing. i found it via james wolcott. first taste was the great car movies list. i too love two lane blacktop. i'd put bring me the head of alfreado garcia in the mix just for the warren oates monologue with the severed head scene, but great list. this post on stanwyck is totally divine. you are really something!

Wow, I just found out about a Siodmak noir I'd never heard of as well as another Ralph Meeker flick thanks to you. I'm sure you get marriage proposals all the time from film nerds, but seriously Kim - stop being so cool or I'm gonna pop the question.

Stanwyck is by far my favorite actress. Thanks for throwing the light on her Kim. I reviewed a few of the films you're talking about. It's hard to believe that "The Strange Love of Martha Ivers" and "Thelma Jordon" are both in the public domain. As far as "Jeopardy", it was interesting to see her play the "housewife" of sorts. We know her to be the tough-as-nails Brooklyn broad who takes nothin' from no one. "Double Indemnity" needs nothing to be said about it - nothing.

The Egyptian is holding a 3-day Pre-Code series from May 22-24. I'll most likely be there. They're showing 2 Stanwyck films over the 3 days: "Night Nurse" and "Forbidden". More Stanwyck on the big screen, I love it. On a side note, they'll also be showing another one of my Pre-Code favorites: "Three on a Match".

I love Barbara Stanwyck. These films are great and I watch Lady Eve and Ball of Fire over and over. Drum Boogie!!

Sweet. I've been a huge Stanwyck fan since I first watched Double Indemnity. It's a shame she didn't get the part in The Fountainhead.
